{"id":7604,"date":"2026-06-10T09:12:36","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T09:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fci4africa.eu\/?p=7604"},"modified":"2026-06-10T10:24:38","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T10:24:38","slug":"fci4africa-joins-world-food-safety-day-symposium-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fci4africa.eu\/de\/fci4africa-joins-world-food-safety-day-symposium-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"FCI4Africa joins World Food Safety Day Symposium 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"7604\" class=\"elementor elementor-7604\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5775b9a6 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5775b9a6\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-51274836 sc_fly_static elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"51274836\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each year on 7 June, World Food Safety Day raises global awareness of foodborne risks and encourages action to prevent, detect, and manage them.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To mark World Food Safety Day 2026, FCI4Africa will join three fellow EU-funded food systems research projects for a virtual symposium on <\/span><b>8 July 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, from <\/span><b>11:00 to 13:35 GMT+1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the theme <\/span><b>\u201cFrom Burden to Solutions \u2013 Safe Food Everywhere,\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the symposium will bring together progress, knowledge, and practical solutions from across the participating projects, while exploring how research and innovation can help address food safety challenges and contribute to safer food systems across Africa.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event is jointly organised by four Horizon Europe projects:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Food Safety for Africa (FS4Africa)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fair Food and Trade Systems for Africa (FCI4Africa)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upscaling Innovations in Food Safety in Africa (UP-RISE)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Healthy Diets for All in Africa (HD4A)<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Together, the four projects are working to strengthen food safety systems, reduce the burden of foodborne diseases, and support safer, healthier, and more sustainable food systems across the African continent.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The symposium will also provide an opportunity for researchers, policymakers, regulatory authorities, development partners, civil society organisations, food industry representatives, students, and early-career professionals to connect and exchange knowledge.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through presentations, discussions, and the sharing of project solutions, the event aims to encourage collaboration among stakeholders working to improve food safety and expand access to safe food in Africa and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e9e6f7e sc_fly_static elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e9e6f7e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Rationale<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7a0100b sc_fly_static elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7a0100b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foodborne diseases remain a critical public health and economic challenge in sub-Saharan Africa, affecting millions of people annually, disproportionately impacting vulnerable populations, and undermining agricultural productivity and trade. Despite growing scientific knowledge, a persistent gap remains between research findings and scalable, context- appropriate food safety solutions. This symposium provides a timely platform to bridge that gap \u2014 showcasing concrete innovations, enabling peer learning, and mobilizing stakeholders across research, policy, and practice to accelerate impact.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3b457e6 sc_fly_static elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\"
