To ensure a meaningful impact, the FCI4Africa project is focusing on five key groups within the agri-food sector. Each group plays a vital role in shaping the future of fair and transparent food trade, with unique needs and priorities. These groups include:
Food system stakeholders:
Every person involved in delivering food from farm to table, such as farmers, farm advisors, food processors, packaging companies, distributors, retailers, and their industry associations.
Certification and accreditation actors:
These are the organisations that ensure food meets safety and quality standards. They include food safety certification bodies, inspection agencies, laboratories, and accreditation organisations that validate compliance.
Technology and innovation sector:
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups that develop digital solutions for tracking food products and ensuring certification compliance. This includes businesses working with traceability technologies and ICT (information and communications technology) innovations.
Academic & research organisations:
Universities, research institutes, and faculties specialising in business, engineering, agriculture, and sciences. These experts contribute to developing new knowledge and solutions for a fairer food system.
Policy makers and regulators:
Government bodies at local, national, and international levels, including ministries, regulatory agencies, and European institutions like the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which help shape food policies and safety standards.
General public:
Everyday consumers, consumer advocacy groups, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), rural communities, and citizens who all have a stake in the future of food fairness and sustainability.
